The 4th European Conference on Coastal Lagoon Research,

Research and Management for the Conservation of Coastal Lagoon Ecosystems, South - North comparisons,

will take place in Montpellier from 14-18 December 2009.

We invite scientists from socioeconomic and natural sciences and managers working on coastal lagoon ecosystems worldwide to participate. Globally, the coastal lagoons occupy about 12 % of the coastline and represent an important heritage and provide many highly valued resources for the local populations. Growth of coastal populations is very pronounced and the human activities strongly impact the coastal lagoon ecosystems. Successful conservation of coastal systems requires strengthening the links between scientists and managers. Image
